Austin Hill made his career-first start at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ont., CAN for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Chevrolet Silverado 250. The Winston, Ga., native was 14th- and 10th-quickest in both NCWTS practice sessions on Friday and made the second round of qualifying to edge out teammate Alex Tagliani for the ninth starting spot for the 64-lap race. When the checkered flag flew, Hill finished eighth, earning his career-best NCWTS finish.

Hill started the Chevrolet Silverado 250 from the inside of row five next to teammate Tagliani and ran within the top 10 for most of the stage. Hill made a green flag pit stop on lap 16 for four fresh tires, a full tank of fuel and a trackbar adjustment, before rejoining the field in the 20th position. In the closing laps, he ended the opening stage in 18th.

As a result of pitting before the end of Stage 1, Hill restarted Stage 2 from the fourth spot, a race high for the 24-year-old. By the halfway point of the middle stage, Hill had slipped back to 15th. A lap later, the caution was displayed for teammate Max Tullman, and when the field went back to green flag racing, Hill lined up in the 11th position. On lap 37, Hill pit for four tires, fuel and an adjustment and rejoined the field in 18th. When the caution came out on lap 40, signaling the end of Stage 2, he was in the 19th spot.

Once the final stage resumed on lap 49, Hill restarted from the outside of row five and avoided a spin on the restart. On lap 50, he brought his Young’s Building Systems No. 02 to pit road for a slight adjustment and restarted from 19th on lap 52. With 10 laps remaining, Hill was running 17th and kept working his way forward. He then avoided a multi-truck spin off the final turn involving several leaders allowing Hill to earn an eighth-place finish.
Canadian native Alex Tagliani made his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start of the season Sunday at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. He was 18th in the first practice session and 14th in the second before advancing to round 2 of qualifying to earn the 10th starting spot for the Chevrolet Silverado 250. Tagliani was able to recover after a late race spin to finish 10th.

Fresh off of his victory in NASCAR Pinty’s Series, Tagliani started the 64-lap Chevrolet Silverado 250 from the tenth position next to teammate Austin Hill. At the halfway point of the opening stage, Tagliani was running in the 15th spot. On lap 17, he brought his RONA Inc. No. 12 Chevrolet to pit road for four tires, fuel and an adjustment and rejoined the field in the 20th position, where he finished Stage 1.

The Canadian driver started Stage 2 from row 10 and was running 16th at the halfway point. One lap later, a full course caution was displayed for teammate Max Tullman as he was stopped in Turn 5. When the middle stage got back to green, Tagliani restarted in the 12th position with on lap 35 and quickly moved into the top 10 before pitting on lap 37 for four tires, fuel and air pressure adjustments. He ended Stage 2 in 18th.

Tagliani restarted the final stage from the ninth position on lap 49. Five laps later, he went for a spin but was able to keep his RONA Inc No. 12 running and rejoined the field in 18th. A full course caution was displayed on lap 61, sending the race into overtime. Tagliani restarted from 17th and in the closing two laps was able to avoid a multi-truck spin coming out of the final turn at the 10-turn road course to advance seven spots and finish 10th.
Max Tullman made his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Sunday’s Chevrolet Silverado 250. He was in the top-20 during both practice sessions Saturday morning and qualified 19th. The Chester Springs, Penn., native took the green flag from row 10. Unfortunately, on lap 31, Tullman suffered transmission issues ending his day, relegating him to a 30th-place finish.

Tullman started the Chevrolet Silverado 250 from 19th and was up to 17th by the halfway point of Stage 1. With differing pit strategies, Tullman was able to finish the opening stage in 15th.

At the end of Stage 1, crew chief Bruce Cook called the Zoomi No. 20 to pit road for four fresh tires, a full tank of fuel and a trackbar adjustment. Tullman restarted Stage 2 from the 19th position but unfortunately on lap 31, he suffered some transmission issues and his day ended early, resulting in a 30th-place finish.
